This fourth edition is a major revision featuring a dynamic design as well as a dozen or more new sample stories, several of which were written by the author using the same techniques and processes championed in the book. He explains how each story was conceived, developed, drafted, proofed, edited and re-written. Hawthorne also challenges students to sacrifice once etched-in-stone rules and standards in the pursuit of powerful narrative told in an authentic voice.
